Residents in the Ottawa area heard sharp explosions late Thursday night.
The blasts originated from unused Canada Day fireworks.

Police and councillors verified the incident.
A follow‑up blast happened at Bluesfest’s opening night.
Unexploded shells went off there as well.
Nobody was hurt and no property damage was reported.
