Chris Smalling, a former Manchester United and England center-back, is in negotiations to join FC Porto on a one-season contract with the option of extending. At 36, the player, known as a cult hero at Man Utd, will return to the Champions League after two years in Saudi Arabia. Porto has shown interest in signing the defender, who has previously played for Roma.
