OCEARCH reported that Contender, the largest great white shark tagged in the program at 1,600 pounds, has reached Newfoundland waters. This is the first time a tagged shark from the program has swum into those waters. Contender is the largest shark OCEARCH has tagged on record.
In a separate incident, a surfer was attacked by a shark at Glenfield Beach in Western Australia. Shark attack survivor Leah Stewart said "My heart stopped" as she gave new details about the encounter. Scientists also described discovering the world's largest shark.
