Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's announced an urgent recall of pre‑packaged apple and kiwi packs on Wednesday. The agencies say salmonella contamination cannot be ruled out.
A “do not eat” warning was posted for the fruit sold in the stores. Prepworld also pulled its own fruit items after a possible salmonella link emerged. Customers are asked to stop eating the products and return them for a refund. The recall covers all fresh apple and kiwi packages stocked in the four chains. Health authorities continue to investigate the source of the suspected bacteria.
