A marine mammal was transferred from Marineland in Niagara Falls, Ontario to a Chicago aquarium. It died shortly after the move. The move was completed before the death.

Marineland also transferred four dolphins and two belugas to an aquarium in Spain. Now the park no longer houses dolphins. Only belugas continue to reside there.
