McLaren turn up at the Singapore Grand Prix under pressure after a tough stretch of races. Team principal Andrea Stella admitted the MCL40 dropped off following recent upgrades, and the team took the blame for a ongoing flaw affecting Lando Norris.

Norris labelled a straight-line speed deficit as seriously damaging and said he was uncertain the team could address it before Marina Bay.

A tyre strategy call during the Malaysian Grand Prix, which saw Oscar Piastri pitted under questionable timing, was later called out as an incorrect judgement. Singapore's tight, low-speed street circuit is considered a bad match for the MCL40, making things harder for McLaren as they prepare for the race weekend.
