Tasmanian authorities have warned that crowds are "loving Neil to death" and could force the euthanasia of the 1,000kg seal if the crowd keeps crowding the animal near the shore.
Local reports say Neil's rising popularity brings harmful behaviour, including tipping kayaks and attacking jet skis, after returning to land and drawing hundreds of onlookers. Authorities are pleaded with the public to give him space.
