MTV Video Vanguard Award goes to Nirvana's remaining members

Nirvana's remaining members, Kurt Cobain's daughter, and Pat Smear received the MTV Video Vanguard Award at the 2026 MTV VMAs. The award honors how much Nirvana changed music and video culture. During their acceptance, Cobain's daughter and Smear ignited a cigarette. The award highlights Nirvana's big part in making music videos and their lasting influence, 32 years after Cobain passed away.
