Tadej Pogačar secured the victory in Stage 19 on July 24. The Slovenian rider struck hard on Alpe d'Huez and ended up far ahead. Only Richard Carapaz drew near. Pogačar's group dealt with unwell teammates earlier in the stage but he remained fit. His lead grew bigger on the last climbs. Two days prior, Carapaz picked up Stage 18 just close behind.
