A mechanic forgot a maintenance work light inside the wing of a Qantas Airbus A380 jet. The aircraft remained in service for two days. The flight covered 27,000 kilometers on scheduled routes. Travel took the passenger jet to the United States and then it headed back.

Staff discovered the forgotten flashlight upon inspection. The light stayed inside the wing during all those flights. The flashlight is otherwise known as the work light.

Qantas shares dropped 0.7 percent following the report. The incident raised renewed discussion over equipment tracking at the airline.
