Citizen resistance was the given reason for the decision. The airport’s manager sought to expand operations but the plans failed to move forward. The move came as a environmental project in Toronto’s park Biidaasige encountered a possible conflict from the airport expansion. The community rejected changes that would have altered the park expansion.
