Yomif Kejelcha broke the men's half marathon global record on Sunday in Buenos Aires. The Ethiopian runner finished the distance in 56 minutes and 51 seconds. He took victory. He improved on the former record by 29 seconds. The result returns him at the top of distance racing rankings.
World Athletics verified the time following the race in Argentina. They formalised the record. The international sports body granted official approval just after the race ended. He shaved 29 seconds off the old time.
