Prime Minister Mark Carney has called snap federal byelections for three Canadian seats. Voters in Brantford-Brant, Ontario; Châteauguay-Lacolle, Quebec; and Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke, British Columbia will cast ballots on August 31. Campaigning is now under way, with major groups selecting candidates and finalising strategies. The Conservatives have vowed to push federal probes on two major concerns: construction oversight of the Gordie Howe bridge and Washington’s threatened tariff measures.
